Some days I have a lot to say. But there is only one blog and all of my posts are compiled in chronological order. To sort through and read only the posts you are most interested in, you can select from the three topics described below.
4N6Fact Fridays, fun forensic facts from the news. You know you want to read them! The weekly posts will appear on this blog under category 4N6, and also on tumblr.
Film2Fiction: Of all the things I pretend to know a lot about, writing is one topic where I have plenty of boots on the ground experience and lots to share. To view my blogs on writing select F2F.
And finally, book love. I review books I have read and loved and think you should read them, too. Click on book<3 Archives

This is a Hubble Photo of two GALAXIES who are in the throes of magnetic attraction. I mean whoa… okay? That’s some serious heat. It reminds me of one of my favorite YA books: Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Nick and Norah suffered, well, maybe endured is a better word that exact level of attraction and I’m certain that if Rachel Cohn (the author of Norah’s chapters) had seen this photo she would have certainly mentioned it as part of her text. Norah’s simple admission of her attraction to Nick was epic enough to justify this photo. It was a seriously big deal. … Continue reading

I spend a lot of time pondering references to ‘pop icons’ that are too old to be meaningful to the YA audience. I’m sure there are those who would like to debate this point with me by saying things like: maybe a reference the reader isn’t familiar with will pique their interest enough to actually get them to look it up or check it out… (I have a teenager, so let me say: not likely, thanks for playing) or, kids are smarter than you think. (True and for the record, my objections are not to undervalue the intelligence of the YA reading audience — only their life … Continue reading

Wow… okay, you’ve heard me be hard on a couple of books now prepare to hear me GUSH! I’ll start with the amazing first line: “Accidents ambush the unsuspecting, often violently, like love.” This line took my breath away. By the time I was 3 or 4 chapters in I was describing this book to my friends as divine… a gift from the heavens delivered through the talented author Andrew Davidson. And I don’t mean that to take anything away from Davidson. He totally showed up and brought an amazing story to life. Davidson’s language is elegantly simple and beautifully … Continue reading
